Simple receive and decode APT-signals from NOAA weather satellites. How?

- Connect a 137-138 MHz receiver to the soundcard of your PC , record the signal of the satellite as a wave-file ,

use decode software and finally ............... 

you have nice images from the earth as seen from about 900km .See menu , actual recordings.

Difficult ? Just try.

 

What do you need for this ?

  ANTENNA , make or buy a antenna for the 137 MHz band , e.g. my PA1PJ Turnstile Antenna, see Technical details.

  RECEIVER , connect the antenna to a 137 MHz recever , e.g. R2FX Receiver , see Technical details

  PC , with a soundcard , if possible with a serial port , connect the audio output from the receiver with the audioinput of the PC.

  SOFTWARE to record the audio signal of the satellite (WxToImg , APT-decoder) , see web Links

  SOFTWARE to decode the audio signal into a image (Satsignal , APT-decoder) , see web Links

  ACCESS TO INTERNET for downloading the latest Kepler-data  , see web Links
